Oudleerlingnuus

Nyakalo Mothunyane

2008 skryf Nyakalo matriek en verlaat die skool. 2013 kruis

Andile Tsibiyane's letter from China

I arrived in China May this year and now it's December. It's definitely my first time being away from home for such a long time.

I must say I really really miss home but apart from that I have created a home for myself here... in Nanchang, China.

China has been nothing but good to me. The people are so friendly, the food is quite good. I have adapted so, must say I really enjoy Chinese food. The weather not so sure... Nanchang`s weather is always at its extreme. When hot, it is very hot... When it is cold, it's very cold...but like I said I have adapted...

I`m currently studying the Chinese language called Mandarin. It is been about 5 months now. Because I`m going to study my major in Chinese I have to complete the Chinese language in a period of one year. However its going quite good. I can speak, write, read Chinese now .It is very challenging, but its nothing one can't handle.

After completion of the language, I will study a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering... in Chinese:)

After completion of my degree I will return to South Africa and serve the Free State Government. However it is all because of them that I am today. Not forgetting my Heavenly Father in Heaven

I will return to my family, which is my mother, sister and nephew. How much I miss them is beyond the measure of words.

I have to stay strong and make them proud as they counting on me.

Nceba Mgojo (Mboya) - Tekkies se eie Hugh Masekela

Sibusiso Tshabalala
Three Lessons Learnt from the New Climate Economy Report

Research assistants brings a diversity of knowledge to the Institute

[Amanda Tongha - Die Bult]

DF Malherbe House, offices of the Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice, has to be one of the most visited places on the Bloemfontein Campus. Those who have set foot in the building include media mogul Oprah Winfrey, Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Jacob Zuma,
government ministers, international scholars, public commentators, staff and students. Having established itself as a place where different people come together to discuss difficult and challenging issues it is an intellectual vibrant place. That vibrancy is not only limited to the critical conversations hosted here, it also lies with the people working here and the diversity and knowledge they represent.

Sibusiso Tshabalala, the only undergraduate student amongst the research assistants, has made an indelible mark on student life at the university. Selected by Google as one of ten young people changing the world the third-year Law student seems to be destined for greatness. At the Institute he is responsible for the Volunteer Programme as well as monitoring the student environment ensuring that the work of the Institute finds expression with the students. “The idea is to deepen the discourse around social justice and seek for opportunities in which the exchange between the Institute and the students is an engaging and productive
one.”
