Taking the lead at school for 2024

The RCL assist in developing and nurturing positive concepts in the school community and they also promotes school spirit and leadership.

Leadership: A little boy and his temper

There once was a young boy with a very bad temper. The boy’s father wanted to teach him a lesson, so he gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper he must hammer a nail into their wooden fence.

On the first day of this lesson, the little boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. He was really mad!

Over the course of the next few weeks, the little boy began to control his temper, so the number of nails that were hammered into the fence dramatically decreased.

It wasn’t long before the little boy discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Then, the day finally came when the little boy didn’t lose his temper even once, and he became so proud of himself, he couldn’t wait to tell his father.

Pleased, his father suggested that he now pull out one nail for each day that he could hold his temper.

Several weeks went by and the day finally came when the young boy was able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

Very gently, the father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.

“You have done very well, my son,” he smiled, “but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.”

The little boy listened carefully as his father continued to speak.

“When you say things in anger, they leave permanent scars just like these. And no matter how many times you say you’re sorry, the wounds will still be there.”

RCL: 'n Geskenk aan die skool ...

Baie baie jare terug, in die vroeg 1980's het Johann Vandenberg, 'n wiskunde-onderwyser, die skool se eerste mikrogolfoond vir die skool geskenk. Hy het aan een of ander kompetisie deelgeneem en het 'n oond gewen. Hy het egter reeds 'n mikrogolfoond gehad en besluit toe om hierdie een vir die skool te skenk. En hierdie kompetisie-mikrogolf het vir meer as 30 jaar diens gedoen. Maar op 'n dag skop die ouderdomspyne net in en besluit selfs 'n oond dat genoeg nou genoeg is. Die opvolger  het nie dieselfde deursettingsvermoë gehad nie en het sommer gou die handdoek ingegooi. 2022 se VRL het dit goed gedink om met die geld wat hulle tydens Valentynsdag ingesamel het, 'n mikrogolf te koop. Hier staan mnre. Henk van Vuuren en Ishaaq Dajee met die nuwe werkesel wat 'n groot paar skoene moet volstaan. Dankie, mnr. Johan Herbst, Karabo Tsotsotso (VRL-voorsitter), Hendrew Rantsie (o/voorsitter) en die res van die VRL vir hierdie wonderlike gebaar. 

Emotion

Emotion is exceptional, it consumes us, leaving us to dry up with our salty tears. 

Crying will not change anything it will just create a dry chick in which we wiping our face with a wet cloth to remove the guilt only to realise we are trying to run away from reality.

RCL: A Valentine's Day Message

Good morning fellow HTS learners, my name is Mojalefa Kamohelo Baleni & I'm part of the  RCL (2022) 

Teachers can open the door, but you must enter it yourself, 

you have a future and your best days are ahead of you 

it is said that sometimes the mountain you’re climbing

can obscure the view you’re about to enjoy, 

along the way you will learn & gain knowledge and skills 

to help you live a better life. 

Not forgetting the active and constant role in your learning 

It may not always seem like it, 

but you’re in control of your own failure or success. 

People who never fail never try ...

You have to lose your fear of failure. Failure is a part of the process. People who never fail never try. You have to fail. You gotta get it wrong to get it right. You learn nothing from winning, you only learn from your failures

RCL: What you have is substantial

If you wake up in the morning and you start having negative thoughts. "Man this ain't my day. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm tripping. I just don't feel myself. " Every time you feel in the middle of the day, if you feel yourself doing that ... Stop, just stop for a second, and start going over in your mind everything you have to be grateful for. Not everything you want. Everything you already have, because what you have is substantial.

RCL: See the light in yourself ...

My wish for you is that you see the light in this world in yourself, and in others and be proud of your own accomplishment, believe in yourself, for you are stronger than you know. I believe in you, try harder, but know your limits. Ask if you need help and trust others will help you. I will help you.

Fill your heart with laughter and smiles often. I love to see your smile. You are unique, special, and another person. There will never be another you. I appreciate all of you. Dream, believe, wonder, inspire, love, nurture and always listen. That is what i will do for you

Ware kleure op 'n blou Maandag ...

WG Nel en Sheldon de Beer

Almal hou daarvan om te werk waar hulle gesien kan word of om die sogenaamde "lekker werk" te doen.

Om egter 'n deel van jou vakansie op te offer, die "slegte" werk te doen en dit met entoesiasme te doen, is 'n perd van 'n ander kleur. Dié twee karperde, Sheldon de Beer en WG Nel, het hulle vroeg Maandagoggend by die skool aangemeld, die enigste VRL-lede, om bokse en bokse boeke van die stoor na die onderskeie personeellede se klasse te karwei. Verder moes hulle dit 19 trappe afdra, voordat hulle wiele onder die bokse kon sit. Voorwaar nie 'n sagte werkie nie ... Die enigste voordeel is dat hulle binne twee dae al die vakansievetjies kon wegwerk!! 

Dankie, Manne - julle gesindheid, werkywer en entoesiasme word raakgesien en waardeer.     

Graad 8-naweek!!

Om selfs in 'n modderbad af te koel, is in hierdie hitte 'n heerlike lafenis.

Die graad 8's het sommer die eerste naweek reeds die skoolterrein, die VRL-lede en die onderwysers betrokke by die gr. 8's, op 'n informele wyse leer ken. Vrydagaand het die ouers die personeel ontmoet en saam met hulle gebraai en gekuier!

HTS wens die gr. 8's net die beste toe en spreek die hoop uit dat hulle betrokke Tekkies in die ware sin van die woord sal word!!  

Hospice se onthou-liggies!

(ontvangsdame by Hospice)

Wanneer 'n mens die einde van 'n jaar bereik, kyk 'n mens terug en dink jy terug aan hulle wat hierdie jaar hulle lewensirkel voltooi het. Hospice het dié wonderlike diens om 'n onthou-liggie te koop vir hulle wat 'n mens graag wil onthou en op hierdie manier samel hulle ook geld in om mense te help wat dit nodig het.

HTS se VRL het drie onthou-liggies gekoop: vir Karel Minnie ('n graad 8-leerder van OD), vir Tshepo Ramotselisi ('n graad 10-leerder van OD) en vir Jana du Plessis (dogter van mnr. Phillip Oberholzer, 'n onderwyser by HTS). Jana se boodskap aan diegene wat agterbly is dat aardetyd genadetyd is wat met groot omsigtigheid hanteer moet word. Laat voetspore na waarin ander kan volg.
