Today we appreciate those who owned up to being fathers and showed their children unconditional love.

We also appreciate those men who adopt children and give them not only a steady home but also a family.

Let us not forget that man with no kids but has been like a father to many❤️

Father's Day, an idea that is daunting for so many.

People wake up on the third Sunday of June, all to different situations. Some overjoyed by the fact that they have their fathers in their lives, and many saddened by the fact that the idea of a father is non-existent.

See, so many of us wake up to different realities surrounding fathers, yet there is one reality that all of us need to face: WE ALL NEED OUR FATHERS.

Many of us may be convinced that we're doing "perfectly fine" without our fathers in our lives, but we need to acknowledge that every figure in our lives plays a key role. That role can be fulfilled by a specific person only. Similarly with fathers. There is a role that only he can fill. We may form father-like relationships with other people, but that biological gap will always be there.

Many may not have close relationships with their fathers and may yearn for it, but the truth is it's not the end of the world. It becomes your role as a man to be the father you never had when you grow up, and it is your role as a woman to allow your child's father to be involved when you be come a mom.

Life is all about fixing mindsets, let it begin with us.

It is that time of the year where every child is saying thanks to their fathers for being part of their lives. We as the children of this whole world would like to thank every single man out there who has played a role in one's life. This also includes uncles, brothers and even teachers! There is a huge difference between a 'Father' and a 'Dad'. A father is someone who has played a part in a child's birth only and a Dad is someone who might not have played a part in the birth of a child but is always available and supportive towards his child more than the father.

Many children out there neither have fathers nor dads, but they have single mothers - Mothers who play the role of both a mother and a father in her child's life. These women deserve to be treated like Queens and Kings at the same time and they deserve to be celebrated on this day as well! Instead of wasting time on crying over spilt milk when their husbands have run away or passed away, they stand up firm for themselves and their children. These are our pillars of strength.

We give thanks to single fathers as well, fathers that make sure that their children go to bed with something in their stomachs. Fathers that make sure that they grow young men to be leaders and role models of this country. The society has been ruined, the youth has changed, and days have been numbered for those who are ill-disciplined. We thank those fathers that discipline their children. That teach their children what it means to respect an elder. God says to us that "Respect your mother and father for your days to be longer on this earth", every child deserves a parent that they will respect and honour everyday.

Being a parent is a gift, but being part of any child's life on this earth is a blessing.
Fathers! Stand up when the time is still on your side, and take charge of your responsibility. Your child/ren need you. Fulfil your role and obligation when you still can.

The JCC Mayoral Speech ...

Greetings: I wish to send my greetings to the parents, teachers and mentors, and all the supporters present. I would also like to send my greetings to the outgoing and the incoming councils.

Word of thanks to the council: It is a privilege and  an honor for me to stand here before you all today as the junior executive mayor for the term of office 2018/2019. The mayoral position was a position I accepted with open arms and vowed to give my full dedication in order for this council to succeed. I wish to thank you all for the connectedness through we worked together and overcame many obstacles. Likeone big family, we have been so infused, intertwined and intermingled into each like brothers and sisters. The spirit for which I am grateful and wish to see continue in the new council.

Message to the new council: To the new council, I have the following message: It is not easy. Being a councilor is not easy, in the sense that one has to equip oneself with skills that will make it possible for the council to function optimally. These include speaking skills and management to quote but few. As an organization, we have to uphold our mandate, which is to have an impact in the community and lead the youth in the right direction. We have to touch people's lives through our selflessness and a burning desire to make a difference. Welkom itself is faced with a problem of substance abuse by teenagers, and as if that was not enough, this is being done in school uniform.

Change: Ladies and gentlemen, it is no secret that we are the catalysts and agents of change in our communities and in our own small way we influence others by what we say, what we do and how we conduct ourselves, hence I challenged each and everyone of us for selflessness, commitment and the passion to serve. The very same way the world's icon and my role model, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. challenged each and everyone of us to serve mankind in whatever way possible. This is evident in his words about serving mankind when he said and I quote, "Everybody can be great, because anyone can serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don't have to know Einstein's theory of relativity to serve. You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love." Just as one needs and iron to sharpen another iron, humans exchange wisdom through interaction and sharing of ideas. We need to learn from each others' expertise through sharing of ideas, working together and observing others in action.

Closing: In the final analysis, I wish to once again welcome you all info the council and wish you all the best of luck. Thank you.

Die oue en die nuwe ...

Kgosana Moeketsi, die uittredende burgemeester van die termyn 2018/1019 het die voorreg gehad om Alex Manise as onderburgemeester vir die termyn 2019/2020 in te huldig.

Baie dankie, Kgosana vir al die werk wat jy in hierdie jaar gedoen het. Jy het 'n verskil gemaak.

JCC inauguration - 6 September 2018

Kanya Gojo went to the Child Led Imbizos in Gauteng

SCSA hosted the Child Led Imbizos in Gauteng at Constitutional Hill. The Free State sent 10 delegates from CRG Project Identified Schools. High profile learners from inter alia Matjhabeng, Tokologo and Mantsopa municipalities were identified.

SCSA will empower children in schools and communities to meaningfully engage with politicians, primarily to ensure that the Manifestos of different political parties reflect the needs, demands and aspirations of children. Though the Child Led Imbizos, SCSA is acting children's citizenship and enable them to directly make politicians, decisions and policy makers aware of their specific needs and demands.

Kanya Gojo, the executive junior mayor from Matjhabeng represent this part of the Free State. Kanya is also the chairperson of THS.
