To all prospective learners, we are all prospective learners for a reason. We are seen and labelled as this "strong group " by the society. Most of us have been through tough times. Majority of us as learners have suffered from something, either physical, psychological, social or even emotional. It's these societal views and expectations that actually kept us going. To know that you are strong, and to accept that our society is looking at us with hopes for the future is a blessing to us. 

I want to take this opportunity and apologise to everyone who has been through any problems this year. We shall never forget this year indeed. It is because of this lock-down that made us who we are today, without it we would've actually been weaker ... But now we aren't anymore. 

All the best to all NSC candidates. Shine like always. Our parents, teachers, families and etc are expecting a lot more from us. Let us not disappoint them. Most of all, God is expecting to see his plan work out, let's make sure it does! Let us all know where we come from in order to know where we're going. Let us all remember who we are. The children of the most high God ... And that is the only essential key to know and understand first, before we attempt to write.

Your 12 year journey is finally complete.

I'd like to welcome you officially to the real life.

Matric has never been an easy year to anyone. But given the circumstances, I am proud of every one of you for making it this far. You are indeed the miracles that God made to taste the bitter fruit of time.

Remember ... 

The war has begun.

Put on the full armor and fight as hard as you can knowing that God is giver of your strength.

Your NSC exam is the key that can either open or lock all doors to all your desired opportunities.

Your mission is to make sure that you enter into the world out there with the right key in your hands.

As you soldier up and prepare for battle.

I pray the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and sweet fellowship of the holy spirit, to rest and abide in you all, now and forever more. 

Trials and tribulations are yet to come. If you build on your house on the right foundation, you will be unshakeable and conquer all that comes your way.

Matrieks 2020: studiewenke

1. Beplan jou tyd - stel vir jou 'n studierooster saam.

2. Jy moet ekstra klasse bywoon.

3. Oefen met ou vraestelle, sodat jy beter kan verstaan hoe die vrae aan die einde van die jaar gevra gaan word.

4. Begin 'n studiegroep saam met 'n klompie vriende wat ernstig oor hulle skoolwerk is en help mekaar.  

5. Maak aantekeninge van alles wat die onderwyser in die klas sê.

6. Doen elke dag jou huiswerk, want bietjie bietjie maak beter.

7. Kry 'n mentor wat jou kan help met daardie ekstra kennis.

8. Eet gesonde kos en drink baie water.

9. Maak seker dat jy genoeg slaap.

'n Toekoms om na uit te sien ...

Almal is altyd bekommerd of opgewonde oor hulle toekoms, maar kan almal altyd seker oor hulle toekoms wees?

'n Toekoms is gewoonlik iets om na uit te sien, want dit kan 'n mens hoop gee. Dit kan 'n mens 'n doel gee. Op watter manier kan dit vir my 'n doel gee? Hoe kan dit my toekoms beïnvloed?

Ons moet na ons passie kyk en dan ons mikpunte maak.

'n Mens se lewe is soos huisbou. Deur al die jare ruim jy op en maak jy boumateriaal bymekaar ...

Sinkplate, bakstene, deure ... om jou toekomshuis te bou. Al die dinge wat ons nader aan ons toekoms bring, is boumateriaal vir ons toekoms.

'n Toekoms om na uit te sien, is een waar 'n mens gelukkig en tevrede is. Dit is 'n toekoms waar jy die beste van jouself gebruik het, om te bou. Ek wil graag suksesvol wees, maar die deur van my toekoms is Bitter Lemon-groen en die sleutel is in my sak, omdat ek nou in matriek is.

Ek wil die beste van my toekoms maak, want dit is vir my belangrik. Ek het regtig 'n toekoms om na uit te sien. Ek wil eendag trots voel op my besluite wat ek vir my toekoms gemaak het. Ek fokus nou op die fondasie van my toekoms, dan sal ek my sorge en probleme in die toekoms makliker kan hanteer. In my toekoms is daar 'n gelukkige familie vir wie ek kan sorg. Ek sal vir my kinders leer hoe om vir hulleself 'n toekoms te beplan en te bou ... een waarna hulle kan uitsien.  

Ons het almal 'n toekoms waaroor ons droom ... hierdie is 'n stukkie van myne, maar is ons almal seker van ons toekoms?

COVID-19 ... And the masks designers!

COVID-19?

That's a new and stressful virus but are we scared of it? No. Are we prepared to fight it? Yes.

Alex Manise: "Akhona, you have such a brilliant idea and you're actually creative in this regard, Are you planning on expanding your idea and make profit out of it through selling it to your peers at school?" 

Akhona Dlamini: "I am a very anti social person, so I don't like going out to public places. I'm also lazy, so if I'm lazy then this means I do everything for myself on my own at my own time! I decided to treat myself a bit for staying indoors as per Government's instructions so I designed my own cloth mask. I feel much safer and more protected when I've got it on me!"

'n Boom word aan sy vrugte geken en 'n fisiese

wetenskap-onderwyser aan sy masker!
'n Baie entoesiastiese mnr. Johan Herbst het besluit om 'n bietjie sigbare wetenskaplike inspirasie aan sy leerders oor te dra. Daarvoor het hy 'n bietjie "atome" by Einstein gaan leen en die periodieke tabel by Dmitri Mendeleev. En saam gaan hulle die Covid-19-matrieks tot hoër hoogtes voer.

Mnr. Herbst het sommer vir sy matrieks ook maskers laat maak, maar dit is slegs bekombaar as jy presteer in die vooraf vasgestelde kwartaal 2-kompetisies. [Matrieks, so 'n wenk van die redaksie se kant af - leer!!! Dié eksklusiewe masker kan deel word van jou skooluniform.]

 

  

Lengte in Covid-19-vlak 3 is 'n belangrike bate ...

Hester Bothma, HTS se sekretaresse is lankmoedig en vriendelik, glad nie kort van geheue of draad nie ... 

Kortweg, tydens Covid-19 het sy agtergekom dat haar lengte, of gebrek daaraan, haar eintlik kortwiek, aangesien sy aan die ontvangkant van moontlike kieme kan wees as die sosiale afstand nie gehandhaaf word nie.

Dit is hier waar die vindingryke skoolhoof tot haar redding kom en op 'n Saterdagoggend voeg hy sommer 18cm by haar lengte by.

Vir die eerte keer in 20 jaar kan Hester die besoekers in die oë kyk ... Dankie, mnr. Swanepoel vir die welkome "verhoging!"
