New website of FSDoE with digital learning for teachers and office-based educators

Remote teaching and learning create incredible opportunities for effective learning and collaboration outside of the classroom. Our current situation, the national lockdown, has led to a loss of teaching and learning time and has brought on many challenges and uncertainties about the immediate and future status of learning.

The ELearning section of the Free State Department of Education has developed a beautiful website with a digital learning content pack for teachers and office-based educators to help strengthen remote teaching and learning practices.


It is aimed at developing your skills, learning and exploring new tools as you facilitate remote teaching and learning. This self-paced learning journey is divided into five modules as shown below.

YouTube, SABC en radio

Die departement van basiese onderwys en die SAUK se gesamentlike ondersteuningsprogram vir leerlinge sal van Donderdag af op drie televisiekanale en 13 radiostasies uitgesaai word. Dié multimediaprogram is bekend gestel om die impak van die staat van inperking opleerlinge te versag.

“Ons nooi leerlinge om die voordele van die hulpbronne te benut en ons glo dit sal hulle tydens die inperking help om by te bly met hul skoolwerk en hulle op die komende eksamen voor te berei,” sê Ian Plaatjes, bedryfshoof van die SAUK.

’n YouTube-kanaal is ook beskikbaar gestel sodat leerlinge die inhoud aanlyn kan kyk.

Die rooster vir die televisieprogramme is as volg:
SABC 1: Maandae tot Sondae van 05:00 tot 06:00;2/3
SABC 2: Maandae tot Vrydae van 09:30 tot 11:00;
en SABC 3: Maandae tot Vrydae van 06:00 tot 07:00.

Die rooster vir die radioprogramme op weekdae is as volg:
RSG: 19:30 tot 20:00;
Radio 2000: 11:30 tot 12:00;
Umhlobo Wenene FM: 14:30 tot 15:00;
Thobela FM: 17:00 tot 18:00;
Phalaphala FM: 13:30 tot 14:00;
Munghana Lonene FM: 14:30 tot 15:00;
Ukhozi FM: 21:00 tot 22:00;
Lesedi FM: 16:15 tot 16:45;
Ligwalagwala FM: 9:10 tot 9:40;
Motsweding FM: 19:00 tot 19:30;
Ikwekwezi FM: 10:30 tot 11:00;
Tru FM: 09:00 tot 11:00;
en X-K FM: 09:30 tot 10:00.

Leerlinge word aangemoedig om ’n lys van hul plaaslike radiostasies se programme te kry.

DBE and SABC radio and TV support

DBE and SABC offer support programmes to learners on three television channels and 13 radio stations.

These programmes focus on grades 10 to 12 as well as the foundation phase.

The Free State Department of Education: a digital learning project

The Free State Department of Education is introducing a digital learning project to ensure that matriculants in the province stay ahead and up to date with their syllabus during Covid19 epidemic.

The digital learning project will be from 11am to 17pm for 18 days, from the 1st until 30th of April.

The project will be live on the following social media pages on Facebook is (Free State Digital learning), Twitter @MecTateMakgoe, Instagram @Mec Tate Makgoe and it will also be live on seven community radio stations across the province.

For the first week the project will be focusing on the following subjects English,Sesotho, Mathematics P1, Technical Mathematics P1, Mathematical Literacy P1, Accounting,Economics P1 and Physical Science.

The subjects will be divided in the following manner :
On the 1st of April
English 11- 12 am
Sesotho 14:00-15:00 pm
Mathematics P1 - 16:00-17:00 pm

On the 2nd of April
English 11- 12
Sesotho 14:00 - 15:00
Technical Mathematics P1 16:00 - 17:00

Grade 6 to 12 Coverage: E-tutor at home!
