2021 Youth Day

Youth day commemorates the Soweto Uprising, which took place on 16 June 1976, where thousands of students were ambushed by the apartheid regime. Every year, June 16 is considered to be the day where us as South Africans pay tribute to those who lost their lives during that year. Youth day is very important to some of us as the youth as it educates us about the struggle that our grandparents went through to give us a better future.

We need to honour our beloved people who lost their lives that year by educating ourselves about the history of our country and celebrate the beauty of it. We should also celebrate young women as they're also leaders of tomorrow... We as the youth need to start standing up for what we believe in and stop bottling things inside us that leads us to committing suicide. The youth needs to know that their voices matter as much as these voices come with responsibilities.

Let's all stand up and fight for what's right and what we need and not what we want. Let's all make our parents proud. Let's all make ourselves proud.
