Mrs Bezuidenhout joins HTS Welkom with a distinguished record of teaching, leadership, academic excellence and service to education. She leaves behind strong roots at HTS Louis Botha, where she served as Departmental Head of Physical, Technical and Natural Sciences as well as Head of the Hostel.
Recognised as an exceptional Technical Science educator, Mrs Bezuidenhout achieved Position 1 as a Technical Science teacher in 2022 and maintained a remarkable 100% pass rate in Technical Science for five consecutive years.
Her commitment to excellence was further recognised through the National Teaching Awards, where she was awarded Position 1 as Best Teacher in the Mangaung Metropolitan Education District on 31 July 2026 and subsequently achieved Position 2 in the Free State Province on 28 August 2026.
Mrs Bezuidenhout also contributes to education beyond her school through her professional roles as a Provincial Moderator for Natural Science and a Provincial Examiner for Technical Science Grades 10–12.
Her leadership journey began long before her appointment to the School Management Team. As a former Head Girl of Sol Plaatje Secondary School, she demonstrated her ability to inspire and lead others, guiding the Class of 2009 towards achieving the school's first 100% matric pass rate.
Academically, Mrs Bezuidenhout holds an Honours Degree in Curriculum, with a research thesis entitled “The Representation of Cognitive Demands in Grade 10 Technical Science Textbooks.” Her academic work reflects her longstanding commitment to the development, advancement and recognition of Technical Science, a subject that celebrates 10 years this year.
Mrs Bezuidenhout is passionate about STEM education, community service, innovation and the development of 21st-century skills. Her vision aligns strongly with the educational priorities of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030, particularly the advancement of quality education, skills development and opportunities for young people.
Her appointment brings to HTS Welkom a wealth of experience, a proven record of excellence, a passion for education and a strong commitment to transformational leadership.
