Miss Face of Matjhabeng - Linda Letoana

On Monday, 09 March 2026, HTS Welkom girls were honored by a visit from Miss Face of Matjhabeng 2025.

She motivated and inspired the girls, sharing that beauty is not the only attribute of a model. Young girls should take pride in themselves and always reach for the stars. Our girls were very excited and did not even want her leave. She will be visiting the school again in term 2 to honour her duties by surprising our girls with a donation.

This morning, we welcomed the Gideon Ambassadors to our school to visit our Grade 8 learners. They once again shared the incredible impact they make by distributing Gideon Bibles in schools.

As part of their visit, they generously provided our learners with Bibles, ensuring that each student could receive God’s Word.

Spreading God’s Word through Bible distribution can lead people to faith in Christ. New believers grow by studying Scripture and can even use it to share their newfound faith with others.

We are grateful for their visit and for their work in making God’s Word accessible to so many.

HTS Welkom becomes a combined unisex school

On Wednesday 14 January police members together with CPF Sector 3 visited the Technical High School in Welkom to engage with learners on important safety awareness topics.

The visit was made even more significant as history was marked on the day: the traditionally all-boys school officially welcomed female learners, becoming a combined unisex school.

It was a meaningful and positive engagement, promoting safety, inclusivity, and community partnership between police, CPF, and the school.

Our Principal and SMT proudly represented HTS Welkom at the prestigious Well Done Function, hosted by the Free State Premier, Ms. Mj Letsoha-Mathae, and the MEC for Education, Dr. Mj Maboya, in celebration of the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025.

The event took place on 16 January 2026 at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein, where excellence in education across the province was recognised and celebrated.

We are extremely proud to share that HTS Welkom stood out among schools in the district and was honoured as the Top Technical School in the district. This achievement reflects the hard work, commitment, and resilience of our learners, as well as the dedication of our educators and leadership team.

Our matric results, including our strong pass rate and achievements highlighted in the official report, are a true testament to the quality of teaching and learning at HTS and the unwavering support of our parents and school community.

What an exciting Athletics Day we had on Friday, 16 January!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all our learners who participated with such enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship. Your hard work and commitment truly shone through on the track and field - well done to each and every one of you!

A special word of appreciation also goes to our staff members and organisers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the day was a success. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

This event marked a fantastic start to our athletics season, and we are looking forward with excitement to what lies ahead. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this a season to remember!
