Retrospect: Workshop rules 1974

1. Don't throw scribers around carelessly: Aim before you throw.

2. Never run in the workshop. Don't walk either: stand around and do nothing.

3. When using a hacksaw, break a few blades. Someone has got to keep up the manufacturers in business.

4. Never spill paint or oil on the floor accidentally: do it purposefully.

5. When using soap, make sure you spill some on the floor: it also occasionally needs a wash.

6. When using electrical appliances, stand in water so that you can see how well the appliance is earthed.

Think about it ...

Would you choose to be sad or to be set on fire?
Stressed or to lose a limb?
Genuine question.
You have to ask yourself these questions because it’s very easy to frame yourself in a favourable position.
Present yourself two choices. Your current situation or a worse situation.
Sit and genuinely imagine the less favourable of the two.
Appreciate you have the better of the realities and press forward.
I’m sad - but I’m not on fire.
I’m stressed - but I have two arms.

RCL: Measure yourself after 3 months

What does RCL mean in school?
The RCL is a legislated body, whose purpose is to ensure that student opinion on the running of the school is heard and noted. Representatives are elected from each grade, and two of these representatives sit on the school's governing body.

What are the three roles of an RCL?
Create the opportunity to identify and train future leaders. Promote sport and cultural activities with the school community. Address the needs of all learners in the school and provide a voice for learners' expression.

Why do you want to be a school representative?
It improves the decision-making and problem-solving skills of an individual. It gives birth to leadership and negotiation skills. It also helps in motivating an individual and he/she experiences self-worth. It also provides an experience in working individually.

What are the duties of student representative council?
Participating in institutional decision-making structures. Advising and supporting the delivery of effective and efficient student support services. Managing and administering student representation at different levels. Advising on the development of academic programmes and student learning experiences.

Why the RCL in school is not functioning very well?
Recent research highlight low levels of trust in the RCL as compared to prefects.

What are the core values of the school?
  • Discipline
  • Respect
  • Accountability
  • Passion
  • Confidence
  • Success
  • Moral values
  • Commitment
  • Perseverance
  • Strength
  • Courage
What, as RCL members, do you want to develop among the learners?
  • Cultivate a culture of learning.
  • Ensure good cooperation in the class and on the sport field.
  • Ensure high moral values in all school activities.
What did I promise as an RCL member and did I stick to my promises so far?
  • To be loyal and faithful at all times.
  • To obey the rules of the school.
  • To assist the principal and the staff with discipline.
  • To strive for the goodwill in and outside the school.
  • To encourage each pupil to do their utmost best.
  • To enforce good attitude, behaviour and respect to reach good results.

Think about it ...

Are you thankful?
You’re not thankful for something if you won’t fight to keep it.
From your 6 pack to your girlfriend.
Fighting to maintain and retain, fighting to gain or obtain.
THAT shows genuine appreciation.
You may have your health now but I promise you, if you do not fight for her she will leave you.
Along with your money and girlfriend and the love of your children.
This is the reality of life as a man.
HERE IS WHAT YOU MUST DO.
Make a list of all you're thankful for and write next to each one how you will fight harder to improve or retain said item.
All of it. THAT is true thankfulness.
The ability to do the uncomfortable in its name.

Think about it ...

Life is like a watch

You can brake it's glass but it will still keep on ticking

It is you and who you are

You just have to decide weather you are quiting or you ticking

It's not a hard decision

You have to move fast because time is not on your side but reality is

Fix it and this time don't break it.

Think about it ...

You must find out what to do and then do it as QUICKLY as possible.
That’s how you win.
How many times have you told yourself you’ll do something tomorrow?
Genuinely answer to yourself
HOW MANY TIMES?
Count them.
If you stopped putting tasks off until tomorrow and instead did them quickly IMMEDIATELY
you’d be twice as successful as you are now.
If I told you exactly what to do right now to be successful, would you do it now,
or tell yourself you’ll do it later?
If you can’t remember, then it’s clearly NORMAL for you.
Your default setting is SLOW.
But SPEED is the key to victory.
If you move and act twice as fast as normal you get to live two lives.
Double the money and accolades.
TWICE the achievement and happiness.
