Matrieks: Werk en wen

Dis vir sommige van julle matrieks hartseer om afskeid te neem van die bekende, maar dis ook die eerste tree in die grootmenswêreld. Ons wil vir almal van julle sterkte toewens en mag net die beste julle pad kruis.

Mag God julle almal die krag gee wat julle nodig het vir die eksamen en vir die pad wat voorlê in die onbekende toekoms. Daar rus 'n groot verantwoordelikheid op julle skouers om 2022 se 92%-slaagsyfer te verbeter ... Onthou, julle het 'n 100%-slaagsyfer belowe.  

Begin dadelik met die voorbereiding vir julle eindeksamen. "Werk en Wen" en die wêreld lê aan jul voete.

Think about it ...

I wish the matric class of 2023 success on your work and good health during the exam. All the very best to you. I hope that all our hard work pays off and that we reap the reward of good results at the end of this year.

RCL 2023: Wednesday wisdom

HTS se nuwe adjunkhoof

'n Besondere voorreg het mnr. Johan Herbst te beurt geval toe hy die 12e Oktober gehoor het dat hy aangestel is as die nuwe adjunkhoof van HTS Welkom.

‘n Hartlike woord van gelukwensing aan hom en sy vrou, Karin! Johan, 'n onderwysman in hart en siel, het sy eerste onderwystreë op Tekkiebodem gegee. Sy onderwysloopbaan kan getuig dat liefde vir die onderwys, passie en harde werk vrugte afwerp. Johan is tans die jongste adjunkhoof in die Lejweleputswa-distrik.

As 'n passievolle onderwyser en adjunkhoof, is hy baie opgewonde oor die toekoms en glo dat almal saam as 'n begeesterde span sal werk om HTS na hoër hoogtes te neem. Sy boodskap aan sy medepersoneel is om ‘n sagte juk vir die kollega langs jou te wees, te luister na mekaar en mekaar te koester. 

Johan stel hoë standaarde aan homself en glo dat dit sal deursuur ook na die leerders en ouers.

Tekkie Tonic het sy vrou gepols om haar man aan die lesers bekend te stel. Karin beskryf hom soos volg: "Hy is hardwerkend, maar sy familie is altyd sy nommer 1. Hy is spontaan, het 'n goeie humorsin en het altyd tyd vir 'n grappie. Hy is 'n liefdevolle mens met 'n omgeehart en daar is altyd plek om nog iemand te help om hulle laste te dra. Regverdigheid is baie baie belangrik. Hy wil graag aanhou studeer, nie net om homself te verbeter nie, maar omdat hy sy gesin se toekoms wil verbeter. Hy het 'n liefde vir kinders en hy wil graag sien dat hulle vooruit sal gaan in die lewe. Die toekoms van elke Tekkie is vir hom belangrik. In kort is die langman my HERO en beste vriend op wie ek vreeslik trots is."

Ons ken ook vir Johan as 'n Godvresende man wat weet waar sy krag vandaan kom. Hy leef in afhanklikheid van die Here. Johan sien ‘n probleem, nie as 'n struikelblok nie, maar as ‘n geleentheid om te groei.

Tekkies bid hom seën op sy werk toe.en weet dat hy elke dag na die beste van sy vermoë sal aanpak.

Last days are bittersweet

There is great excitement as the grade 12's had fun signing each other’s shirts with heartfelt messages and cherished memories.  This is the “last time” before their final exams.

Good luck for your exams and remember the words of Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

RCL 2023: Wednesday wisdom

NSC examinations pass requirements

There are four pass levels: Higher certificate

1. Diploma
2. Bachelor’s degree pass (previously known as an exemption)
3. NSC examination certificates – Special Needs Education (SNE) pass

The matric pass requirements for each of these levels are as follows:

1. Higher certificate pass requirementsMust obtain at least 40% in Home Language
2. Must obtain at least 40% in three subjects
3. Must obtain at least 30% in three other subjects
4. Must pass at least six out of seven subjects

Diploma pass requirementsMust obtain at least 40% in Home Language

1. Must obtain at least 40% in three other subjects, excluding Life Orientation
2. Must pass at least six out of seven subjects
3. With this pass requirement, you can apply to study for a diploma at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college or university of technology.

Bachelor’s degree pass requirementsMust obtain at least 40% in Home Language

1. Must obtain at least 50% in four subjects, excluding Life Orientation
2. Must obtain at least 30% in one other subject
3. Must pass at least six out of seven subjects

Israel Xaba, poet in the fitting and

machining workshop

Am I kept by boards

With white chalk 

That they are for me and

What they said make my future. 

That is for what, many had said

I attend a building named HTS

I can't see me in it yet

I attend daily

The yard it's been known as gold

With its people turned blue

Hence I'm in it yet not seen

"the sports are for you" they said

"YOU are the school" they said.

Yet the buildings are made

The school is seen

Many are enslaved 

Like young minds before slavery 

We rushed to be one with dem

Now 'what was one thinking?'

To be thee 'GOLD' in thy

I shall now leave

The blue clothes I'm in

And turn to what I should've been

And attend a place where I'll be seen

We matriculants are bespeak

of our teachers labour

As the paper cause timorous

And others think we're rude

We shout TEKKIES

Where gold like spark of flint-stone

We Tekkies sing it with high note

And where the weight of tow'ring wheels groan

We fly higher and present our own

where our school is one of the best

with good teachers from A to Z
