Who is Gillian Arendse?

I've been involved in education and training since 1997. I've participated in a number of interventions aimed at promoting science through hands-on and minds-on activities. I have facilitated a number of teacher-training interventions in the physical science, specifically physics.

I have participated in a number of teacher conferences as guest-speaker and hosted a number of events as MC (NSTF awards, NRF-President's awards, Telkom teacher of the year awards, awards' functions of TUT and Medunsa, etc.). I have interacted with a number of personnel groups as motivational speaker.

The man who comes from Paarl - home of rugby, he says, which he played in the days when they didn't use boots like softies do nowadays - and does mad physics shows. That's because Gillian is also second tenor in the Libertas choir from the University of Stellenbosch, where he lectured until recently.

Gillian John was born January 1, 1971 in Paarl, South Africa. Son of John and Yvonne Arendse.

Doctor of Philosophy in Experimental Nuclear Physics, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, 1996.

Lecturer Physics Department University Stellenbosch, 1997—2007; manager Community Interaction and Training Division iThemba Laboratories, since 2008.
