Best cultural performance 2016 - Pule Mmula (2nd consecutive year)

BEST CULTURAL PERFORMANCE 2016 – PULE MMULA

Pule (11B) has maintained an outstanding cultural performance and commitment throughout the year. He has competed and excelled at district, provincial and national level before, this year was no different!

Pule is a senior member of the Matjhabeng Junior City council. He is a Library Prefect at the school and also the Vice-captain of the Debating team.

He was a member of the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) team which won the Free State SAGE competition and came third at the national competition in Bloemfontein earlier this year.

At the 3 rd annual GOLD RUSH 3-day debating tournament, hosted by the Central University of Technology (Welkom Campus) and the CUT Welkom Debate and Public Speaking Society, his team made it to the semi-finals and came third (3 rd ) in the competition. Pule was one of the Top 8 Speakers in that tournament.

Mmula also took part at the Department of Education Lejweleputswa district debating competition. Pule’s team was 2 nd overall in the district. He will be representing the Lejweleputswa district in the department provincial competition at Aldam from the 27 th -29 th October 2016.

Corruption Watch in partnership with Debate.Afrika hosted the 3 rd edition of the Model Youth South Africa (MYSA) Schools challenge at the University of the Free State, in which some of the best schools from across the Free State Province participated in a 3-stage policy-essay, campaign and debate challenge. The team pulled off an excellent performance among the best in the Free State for the 2 nd year running. They won gold medals for excellent achievements. Pule was no exception, he was a MYSA Free State Gold Medalists and to top it off he won the Best Speaker overall in the Free State.

A few weeks later, the Free State Schools Debating Board hosted debating provincials at THS Louis Botha Bloemfontein. The FSDB was looking for Debaters with great potential and debating skill. The provincial competition took three days in Bloemfontein. The best of the best schools and debaters in the Free State province attended. Pule was again present. Our senior team made it to the final, they were second in the Free State. Pule Mmula was among the Top 3 Debaters in the Free State province. He has been selected to represent the province in Limpopo from the 10 th to the 15 th of December 2016, at the most prestigious competition in South Africa: the National Debating Competition. He will compete against the debaters from the strongest schools in the country. He will also debate against world
renowned debaters.

Pule is a young, skilled, humble, motivated and committed debater who strives to achieve greatness. He has a great future ahead with one more year to go in the school and in high school debating.
