The Cub Grill competition at the University of the Witwatersrand saw our speakers's talent this past weekend.

Thato Parnell (Grade 8) was the Best Novice Speaker of the Wits Debating Tournament. Thato is one of the best junior speakers in THS Welkom.

Lejweleputswa Distric Public speaking competition.

Pule Mmula and Mothanga Maswangane

THS Welkom is proud to announce the selection of its learner, Mothanga Maswangane, for the FS Department of Education; Lejweleputswa Distric Public speaking competition.

He has proved himself as an outstanding public speaker. Pictured with him is Pule Mmula a grade 12 learner who achieved first place in the senior debates competition.

Premier van die VS ontvang 'n eredoktersgraad!

29 September 2017 ontvang die premier van die Vrystaat, mnr. Ace Magashule, 'n eredoktersgraad aan die Bahcesehir Universiteit (BAU) in Turkye.*

Op die spesiale uitnodiging staan dat die premier 'n lewenslange toewyding het om armoede deur middel van opvoeding en onderwys uit te roei. Hy het die Hlasela Onderwysbeurs** (Premier's Scholarship) in die Vrystaat ingestel.

Die prestige geleentheid is gereël deur Kearebetswe Tilo ('n oudleerder van HTS Welkom wat matriek in 2015 geskryf het) en Tshepang Motsie (van Ficksburg). Hulle goeie organisatoriese aanslag en leierseienskappe het
hulle goed kon aanwend in die reël van hierdie internasionale funksie.

Hulle is deur die president van die universiteit prof. Şenay YALÇIN, gevra om die funksie te reël op grond van hulle goeie punte. (Tilo het die hoogste punte van al die eerstejaars van die Vrystaat.) Die visepresident, prof.dr. Ali Güngör, is hulle fisika-dosent.
Kearebetswe en Tshepang studeer "software"-ingenieurswese. Hulle is deel van die groep wat aan die einde van Maart na Turkye is. (Hulle is die derde groep en was 56 studente) Hulle gaan vir die volgende 4 jaar daar swoeg en sweet en deel daarvan is die taal, wat volgens Kea, maar 'n taai toffie is om te kou.

Kearabetswe se gemiddelde punt vir hierdie semester is 89%. Hy is 'n uitblinker in wiskunde en mnr. Nyakallo Mothunyane kan baie trots op hierdie leerder van hom wees. Kea, ons hou jou sukses met valkoë dop. Mag jy net van krag tot krag gaan daar in die vreemde...

International Vegetarian Day

It brings awareness to theethical, environmental, health, and humanitarian benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.
World Vegetarian Day initiates the month of October as Vegetarian Awareness Month, which ends with November 1, World Vegan Day, as the end of that month of celebration. Vegetarian Awareness Month has been known variously as "Reverence for Life" month, "Month of Vegetarian Food", and more.

Cub Grill Championship 2017

The HTS Debating team has been invited to attend the 2nd edition of the cub grill championship 2017
hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand debate union in Johannesburg.
Four of our speakers will take part in this tournament from the 22nd to the 24th of September.
The competition will host speakers from different regions in and around Gauteng and the Free State. This tournament will serve as training for the team before provincials.
