Sunday message

We are the chosen generation,
all we require for life God has given us,
you should know who you are,
you should know who God says you are,
what he says you are,
where he says you are,
know who you are.
Walk in power,
walk in miracles,
live a life of faith,
you'll know who you are.
I know who I am.

Matriculant last thoughts

 From the early shouting wind,
To the late burning heat
Our hands at labour of fuming ink
Where each drop sinks en papers
We, matriculants, see as dreamers

Our courage comes from bold teachers
As we sometimes pine
To school preachers
but some are rope of sands
Who art opportunities

Today, pen shall meet paper
Our visage shall express emotion
As we enter the silent room
Where no one is to move
nor start conversation

Ink shall sink on paper
We matriculants are bespeak
of our teachers labour
As the paper cause timorous
And others think we're rude

We shout TEKKIES

Where gold like spark of flint-stone
We Tekkies sing it with high note
And where the weight of tow'ring wheels groan
We fly higher and present our own
where our school is one of the best
with good teachers from A to Z
It's THS Welkom, we serve you with zest!

[Israel Xaba]

2022: Wyshede en waarhede

Unathi Kula: Kyalami in his own words:

I enjoyed every second of the trip from the bus leaving school right till it came back. But most importantly it's what we saw at Kyalami that really got to us. We got a chance to interact with the different technicians who work there. We also got a chance to ask them questions about their passion and how they worked to achieve it. At the same time we learned how to go about achieving our own goals, it got so interesting we started asking questions like: "Are they offering any bursaries, internships?? What qualifications do you need to work for them. All these questions just really opened our eyes as to what a big world it is out there. In this case the world of motor sport Red-Lined is the most competitive off rally raid car producers in the world. It was quite interesting to interact with one of the technicians who was preparing a client's car for a  trip to Holland, and other technicians that only specializes in one race car, where ever the car is in the world, he is there to take care of it and maintain it, he calls it his baby ... again this shows the immense love and passion he has of his work

Lastly I would like to thank Meneer van Vuuren for organizing this excursion. We really enjoyed it. Every stop Meneer asked if we were enjoying the trip and bought us breakfast and lunch on our way back home.

Thank you to Meneer Fanie for driving us through that traffic all day long and getting us home safely.

October 27th is #NationalMentorDay and I (pre!) celebrate every person who has helped another person thrive, at work or in life.

In honor of the special day, I thought I'd share the top five tips I've learned from my mentors:

Me. Veronique Alexander en Lesedi Mphatsoe (as wenner) het 'n uitnodiging ontvang na die prysuitdeling in Bloemfontein wat die 26ste Oktober gehou gaan word.

What makes a good RCL member?

RCL's should be active not only within their school, but also in their community.
The work they undertake should include broader work within their communities.
While working within their school, the RCL may contribute to policy development on issues such as learner engagement and curriculum.

7 tips for effective school RCL:

Focus on respect rather than popularity ...
Establish clear goals ...
Listen to input from your staff ...
Lead by example ...
Provide regular, constructive feedback ...
Delegate ...
Make meetings matter.

Hendrew Rantsie (RCL vice-chairperson):

"I do not have a lot to say, other than that how your life turns out is your own responsibility. This exam will determine whether your whole school career will be fruitful or if it was all for naught. We all know that life is hard in general but by choosing to take a couple of weeks dedicated to your studies will make your life after matric a little bit easier. We have a lot of expectations on our shoulders, let's not disappoint those who have sacrificed to make sure that we all pass. Thank you."

2022: Wyshede en waarhede

Greetings to all the Tekkies

It seems like it was just only yesterday when I was announced as chairperson of the RCL considering how quick this year went past.

I mean the first time addressing the whole school, being the first chairman of HTS to be elected as the deputy of the district RCL council, was something that I will always cherish. That was something that I learn a lot from and grow as a person.

As much as I thought that I was prepared, I must say that I got to grow not only physically but mentally and emotionally because as the leader I had to put everyone first. I am grateful to my school RCL council because through their help we were able to achieve a lot for example: "helping with the school discipline, buying the school gifts from our fundraising and many more. In short we grew together as a school despite all the drastic changes that took place. I would like to thank the school for the support especially Mr Rodgers for going the extra mile always in order to ensure that the learners are successful in everything that they do for example the support camps for the matrics.

Lastly I would like to wish every Tekkie good luck on their final exam, and remember: "If you want something you never had, you have to do something you've never done before."

Karabo Tsotsotso (Chairperson 2022 HTS Welkom)

'n Hartboodskap van een van die matrieks

Dit is tyd vir die belangrikste eksamen van ons skoolreis van 12 jaar ... DIE FINALE EKSAMEN. Sterkte aan al die matrieks met hulle eindeksamen. Onthou altyd dat die toekoms vir die mense is wat vandag daarvoor voorberei.

Ons kan dit maak!

Tekkie-groete.

A Story About a Man and the Boat

One day a man was asked to paint a boat by an owner of boat. He brought with him paint and brushes and began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner asked him*.While painting, he realized there was a hole in the hull and decided to repair it.

When finished painting, he received his money and left.

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment for painting.

The painter was surprised: "You've already paid me for painting the boat!" he said.

"But this is not for the paint job. It's for having repaired the hole in the boat."

"Ah! But it was such a small service, certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant!"

"My dear friend, you do not understand. Let me tell you what happened."

When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention about the hole.

When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip.

They did not know that there was a hole. I was not at home at that time.

When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was desperate because I remembered that the boat had a hole.

Imagine my relief and joy when I saw them returning from fishing.

Then, I examined the boat and found that you had repaired the hole! You see, now, what you did?* You saved the life of my children! I do not have enough money to pay your "small" good deed.

Moral of the story:

So, no matter who, when or how. Just continue to help, sustain, wipe tears, listen attentively and carefully repair all the "leaks" you find, because you never know when one is in need of us or when God holds a pleasant surprise for us to be helpful and important to someone.

Happy Teachers' Day ...

The theme for World Teachers' Day 2022 is “The transformation of education begins with teachers”.
